John Goldstone - Producer


John Goldstone has been producing films in England since the mid 1970's. His first film as a producer was "THE THREE SISTERS" for British Lion and the American Film Theatre, directed by Laurence Olivier and starring Olivier, Alan Bates, Derek Jacobi and Joan Plowright. Prior to that he had spent six years as the personal assistant to Producer Joseph Janni on such films as John Schlesinger's "BILLY LIAR," and "DARLING," Tony Richardson's "FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD," Joseph Losey's "MODESTY BLAISE" and Ken Loach's "POOR COW."

Mr. Goldstone's collaboration with the Monty Python team began in 1974 when they were attempting to finance their first full-length feature film, "MONTY PYTHON & THE HOLY GRAIL," for which he put together an unusual syndicate of financiers including Pink Floyd,
Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Chrysalis, Island and Charisma records. He subsequently produced "MONTY PYTHON'S LIFE OF BRIAN" and "MEANING OF LIFE."

Mr. Goldstone has also produced such diverse films as the cult hit "THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW" and its sequel "SHOCK TREATMENT," Terry Gilliam's "JABBERWOCKY," Paul Morrissey's "THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES" with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore and Terry Jones's "ERIK THE VIKING," as well as the thirtieth "Carry On" film, in Gerald Thomas's "CARRY ON COLUMBUS," (the first production of Mr. Goldstone's recently formed The Comedy House).Most recently Mr. Goldstone produced the live action version of "THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS," adapted, directed by and starring Terry Jones.

"FESTIVAL IN CANNES" is Mr. Goldstone's second partnership with Henry Jaglom. Their companies, Revere Entertainment and The Rainbow Film Company respectively, earlier collaborated on "DEJA VU," which Mr. Goldstone executive produced, and he is producing "FESTIVAL IN CANNES."
