![]() RON SILVER (Rick Yorkin) . *For more information on Ron Silver click here* Tony Award-winning actor Ron Silver is one of America's leading versatile Broadway, in films and on television. He is also a committed activist whose voice has been heard on many issues facing the theater community and the country at large. President of Actors' Equity Association since June 1991, Mr. Silver was also the founding president of The Creative Coalition, a grassroots political organization of artists, for which he is presently a member of the board. Mr. Silver recently starred in the CBS mini-series, "AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY: THE UNCENSORED STORY OF THE SIMPSON DEFENSE," and in the ABC television film "WHEN BILLIE BEAT BOBBY," as Bobby Riggs opposite Holly Hunter's Billie Jean King. After making his screen debut in "TUNNELVISION" (1976), Mr. Silver landed a running, featured part on the T.V. hit show "RHODA" opposite Valerie Harper, in which he appeared for several years. This was followed by his own short-lived T.V. series "BAKER'S DOZEN" (1982), the same year he was featured in Norman Jewison's "BEST FRIENDS." Other movies that followed included Marshall Brickman's "LOVESICK" and Mike Nichols's "SILKWOOD" (1983); Herb Gardner's "THE GOODBYE PEOPLE" and Sidney Lumet's "GARBO TALKS"(1984); Paul Marzursky's "ENEMIES, A LOVE STORY" (1989); Barbet Schroeder's "REVERSAL OF FORTUNE" and Kathryn Bigelow's "BLUE STEEL" (1990); Arthur Hiller's "MARRIED TO IT" (1991); Billy Crystal's "MR. SATURDAY NIGHT" (1992); Peter Hyams's "TIMECOP" (1994); and David Twohy's "THE ARRIVAL"(1996). Mr. Silver's television appearances have been too numerous to mention, but include continuing roles on "HILL STREET BLUES" and "CHICAGO HOPE." He portrayed Henry Kissinger in TNT's award winning "KISSINGER AND NIXON,"received an Emmy nomination for "THE BILLIONAIREšS BOYS CLUB," co-starred with Kirstie Alley in her hit series "VERONICAšS CLOSET" and played Robert Shapiro in the miniseries "AMERICAN TRAGEDY." On Broadway Mr. Silver starred in and received a Tony Award for David Mamet's highly acclaimed "SPEED THE PLOW." Other Broadway performances include two plays by David Rabe, "HURLYBURLY" and "SOCIAL SECURITY" under the direction of Mike Nichols. He has also starred in two widely hailed one-man shows: "AND..." and "BILL GRAHAM PRESENTS." Mr. Silver is currently playing a recurring T.V. role in "THE WEST WING" on NBC and can be seen nationally on movie screens as Angelo Dundee in Michael Mann's "ALI." |
